Purple barley is a favorite of mine. Grow it in my garden – it has wonderful flavor as well as great beauty, and I guessed it might be good for me. Now THE ECONOMIST, of all places, reports on research into birds’ abilities to visually identify antioxidants in fruit. But it’s more than color identification, as you will read.
